Kelly Moehn, Bookkeeper
About Me
Hi, my name is Kelly Moehn and I'm a QuickBooks ProAdvisor in Hilbert, Wisconsin, located about 30 miles South of Green Bay. I have been the bookkeeper at Moehn Grain Farms, LLC since 2004. This is the farm that my husband, John, and I run. It is also where we raise our four beautiful children, Maggie (a freshman in college), Abby (a senior in high school), Gini (a junior in high school), and Charles (a sophomore in high school).

I grew up in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, working at my parents' golf course since the age of 12. I attended the University of North Carolina-Wilmington on a golf scholarship and majored in Business Management. I would come home during the summers and work at the golf course and restaurant. Here is where I learned what it takes to run a small to medium-sized business. I saw first-hand the hours necessary to dedicate to book work. I remember many nights saying goodnight to my dad where he was still creating deposits, reconciling the drawers, or writing checks. If he was at home, he was working.

I thought that I would eventually run the golf course. However, I learned that I did not enjoy working at the golf course as much as playing golf. I did enjoy giving golf lessons, especially to the junior golfers. So, I went to Lakeland College and earned my Business Education degree. I have spent the rest of my career as a public high school teacher with a little hiatus to have kids. I cover subjects like Accounting, Personal Finance, Business Management and Marketing. Alongside my teaching duties, I serve as the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) adviser and golf coach, and I’m proud to have had at least one student qualify for Nationals every year, except during the pandemic. I was also elected to the inaugural Wisconsin FBLA Board of Advisers, allowing me to contribute to the FBLA state’s strategic plan and new member initiatives. I have volunteered my time to numerous organizations over the years helping coordinate fundraisers or take care of the books.

This leads me to today; my personal goal is to have more of a work-home balance. I still love the students, but teaching has changed so much since the pandemic that I needed a change. While looking for jobs, I noticed that there were lots of jobs for bookkeepers, but they were part-time. I was looking for a fulltime position. After a few months of applying and not seeing the return I wanted, I thought why not start my own business, which lead to "Count on Moehn".
